Your Coach in Leeds

Andy School of Knock

Based in Leeds. Passionate about Table Tennis.

Meet the Coach

Hello, I'm Andy. I founded the School of Knock and the Community Table Tennis Club (CTTC) here in Leeds.

My journey with table tennis began 8 years ago. What started as a casual hobby quickly turned into a deep passion for the sport's technique and strategy. Today, I compete regularly in the Leeds League, currently working towards securing a spot in Division 2 for the upcoming winter season.

My Qualifications & Approach

While playing competitively is important to me, my primary focus as a coach is helping others improve. To ensure I provide the best possible training, I have:

  • Professional Certification: Qualified as a Level 1 Session Coach with Table Tennis England. This covers fundamental coaching methodologies, safety, and session planning.
  • Safety First: I hold a current Enhanced DBS check and have completed all required safeguarding courses. Every session is safe for players of all ages.
  • Continuous Learning: I actively study modern techniques by analysing professional matches and instructional content from top coaches worldwide. My sessions are built on proven methods for footwork, spin, and tactical awareness.

Why Join School of Knock?

I started the School of Knock because I noticed many players want to play table tennis but are unsure how to start and develop good technique.

My goal is simple: to provide structured, high-quality coaching in a friendly environment.

  • Personalised Attention: With a maximum of 10 players per session, you won't be lost in a crowd. You'll get the feedback you need to correct your technique.
  • Flexible Progression: We don't force rigid terms. You train at your own pace and graduate when you've mastered the skills.
  • Practical Focus: Everything we teach is designed to translate directly to real match situations, not just drills.

A Note on Equipment

I am also the creator of Vetra, a brand specialising in custom-built table tennis bats using high-quality Chinese blades and rubbers.

While you do not need to use Vetra equipment to join our courses, I am happy to offer advice on gear if you wish to upgrade your bat to match your developing style.
