How It Works

At the School of Knock, we believe table tennis training should be accessible, flexible, and focused on your progress. Unlike many club environments where there is no learning plan and people just knock randomly, we use a continuous learning model so we can meet you where you are, and you can advance at your own pace.

Find Your Level

Not sure which course suits your current ability? We make it easy to get started.

New Players: If you have never had formal coaching or haven't played in a long time, start with Foundation Level 1 and learn sound technique for the basics before you continue to levels 2 and 3.

Returning Players: If you've been playing casually but feel there are gaps in your technique, tell us about your game, and we'll place you in the appropriate level from day one. Contact Coach Andy before booking. We'll discuss your experience and recommend whether to start with Foundation Level 1, 2, or 3.

Book Your Session

Once you know your level, securing your spot is straightforward.

  • Small Groups: Each session has a maximum of 10 players. This ensures you receive proper attention and get enough time on the table.
  • Flexible Scheduling: We run distinct time slots for Level 1, 2, and 3. Check our available times and book the slot that fits your schedule.
  • Equipment: Bring your own bat if you have one. If not, we provide loaner bats for your first session.
  • Payment: Fees are paid via bank transfer (£32 for a block of 4 sessions). Once received, your sessions are credited to your account.

Train & Get Assessed

Our training sessions combine structured drills with live play to build practical skills.

  • Weekly Training: One session per week over approximately 8 weeks per level.
  • Continuous Assessment: There are no formal exams. Coach Andy observes your progress during regular sessions and grades you when you demonstrate consistent mastery of the required skills.
  • Fluid Progression: When you're ready, you move up to the next level. You don't need to wait for a term to finish.

Graduate & Advance

When you complete all requirements for your current level, you receive a Graduation Certificate recognising your achievement. You'll then be eligible to join the next level or enter the Community Table Tennis Club (CTTC) league once you finish Foundation Level 3.

What You Achieve at Each Level

  • Foundation 1: Consistent rallies, legal serves
  • Foundation 2: Movement, shot variety, topspin generation
  • Foundation 3: Match-ready, tactical patterns, league eligibility
